30th annual Santa Anita Derby Day 5k Run & Walk Set, record participation expected

Tradition since 1995, the Derby Day 5k Run & Walk by Santa Anita Park, for the 30th run of the event on Saturday, April 5, the route was announced on Saturday afternoon.

The race is encouraged at 8 a.m. with the participants to come between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., and riders and locals are reminded that the Baldwin Avenue is closed from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. to the footrest. The closure extends between the 210 freeway and the Huntington Drive. The race begins by South Lot B for all participants.

On the thoroughbred racing side, the first post for the day of the Santa Anita Derby Day at 12 p.m., which emphasizes the Kentucky Derby Point Race and four other missions. The events include the spring carnival. Derby-Day 5K participants from the age of 21 receive two free beers, a party after race, a medal, a shirt and an admission to the track to enjoy a race day.


“The Derby Day Run & Walk includes everything that is good here in Arcadia,” said Pete Siberell, director of community events and special projects at Santa Anita. “In addition to our great facility here in Santa Anita, we have access to the 127 hectare district of La County Arboretum, which is known worldwide for beautiful gardens, lakes and botanical diversity.”

“We would also like to thank the city of Arcadia, who is an important sponsor of the race and again provides police and fire -proof staff to ensure the safety of everyone involved. In addition, the USC Arcadia Hospital is a great supporter. You will take 250 employees with up to 40 employees from the city. We expect 6,500 people run and/or go. This is a big undertaking that requires great coordination between all of us. “

Registration for the Derby Day 5K Run & Walk is available here, although personal registration is possible on Friday, April 4th in front of the Center Court in the shops in Santa Anita.
