Polis increases the Canadian flag for the newly designated Colorado Canada Friendship Day

Colorado – In a publication on Saturday morning, governor Jared Polis announced that the Canadian national flag in State Capitol will be raised as Colorado Canada Friendship Day on March 15.

The Capitol building will also be illuminated this evening with the Canadian white and red.

“We appreciate our friendship and close relationships with Canada in Colorado from maple syrup and much more. Today's Canadian flag is a symbol of our friendship and shows that we expand our economy and make the people of both sovereign nations better. I am grateful for our friends in the north and look forward to celebrating the Colorado Canada Friendship Day every year. “

Governor Jared Polis

The Polis office reports that Colorado accounts for 18% of trading exports of 1.3 billion US dollars in 2023.

This happens almost two weeks after governor Polis criticized the Trump management for the implementation of taxes on Canada and Mexico.

You can read his complete statement from March 3, 2025 below:

“Unless President Trump withdraws from the tariffs for products from Mexico and Canada from midnight, the terrible sales tax of the President applies to all hard -working Coloradans. Trump's tariffs are a costly sales tax that increases the price of food, clothing, houses, technology, cars and everyday objects that Americans rely on and violate North American competitiveness. President Trump plays chicken with people's pocket books, small companies and our economy, and it is harmful. While Colorado lowers the costs, the president's tariffs alone will lead to economic devastation all over America. “

Governor Jared Polis

The office also announced that the Capitol will organize a friendship day in Colorado Mexico, but no additional details were published.
