Angel's insider predicts that Anthony Rendon is published and still paid a full contract

The Los Angeles Angels will go down in history when they give Anthony Rendon one of the worst contracts in the modern era of baseball. The third Baseman signed a seven-year contract of $ 245 million with the Angels before the 2020 season.

Rendon was ready to be one of the biggest names of the franchise when he was equipped with the Washington National from an outstanding season. In 2019, Rendon was appointed all-star, won his second Silver Slugger Award and became the World Series Champion.

In 2019, Rendon's performance certainly brought a considerable contract to defend the Angels. However, Rendon's term in Anaheim was anything but successful.

This spring, the Angels announced that Rendon would undergo hip surgery after being set up in his recovery in the offseason. The 245 million dollar will miss the entire 2025 season.

If Rendon does not play this season, he will have played in only 25.3 percent of Angels games in the course of the six seasons. This season, the angels still owe 38.6 million US dollars and in 2026 another 38.6 million dollars.

Rendon's term of office is apparently over with the halos, and Angel's insider Jeff Fletcher believes that the team will not restructure his contract, but will only release the often injured star next year.

“I think it is more likely that the angels Rendon will simply publish at some point before the end of 2026,” writes Fletcher. “You would still pay him every cent that you owe him, but you would not have to deal with the fact that he is on the list or injured list.”

This corresponds to what was previously reported about the angels that have no insurance for Rendon.

“The Los Angeles Angels is an insurance company for the third Baseman Anthony Rendon or another player who, according to sources who are familiar with the club's directive, have no insurance,” Ken Rosenthal writes the Athletic. “The reason: Owner Arte Moreno does not want to incur the additional costs.

“Moreno is hardly alone in his thinking. A number of other clubs decide not to acquire insurance. With Rendon, who signed a contract for seven-year, $ 245 million before the 2020 season, insurance would have been a smart choice.”

The publication of Rendon would be quite a dissolution of a series of unfortunate events in Anaheim.
