The Ministry of Education initiates the investigation by Notre Dame Dei programs

Notre Dame was included in a list of 45 universities that are examined because they are supposed to get involved in their graduation-based discrimination by the US Ministry of Education (OCR).

In a press release, the Ministry of Education cited “allegations that these institutions violated title VI of Civil Rights Act (1964) by with 'The Ph.D. Project '”as the basis for the investigation for 45 of the universities, including Notre Dame.

In addition, six universities are administered for “awarding inadmissible racial -based scholarships” and one for “administration of a program that separates the students on the basis of the breed”.

“These OCR investigations are carried out in accordance with title VI of the Civil Rights Act (1964), which prohibits discrimination due to breed, color and national origin in educational programs and activities that receive federal financing. The violation of institutions against Title VI can lead to a loss of federal funds, ”says the press release.

These investigations follow a letter that was sent by the Office of Civil Rights Department on February 14th and the institutions noted, which received federal financing that they had to stop a racial discrimination within 14 days of the publication of the letter.

“The department will no longer tolerate the open and hidden racial discrimination, which is widespread in the educational institutions of this nation. The law is clear: treat the students differently to achieve nebulous goals such as diversity, racial compensation, social justice or equity if the precedent of the Supreme Court is controlled, ”wrote Craig Trainor, deputy deputy secretary for civil rights at the Ministry of Education.

The press release states that the doctoral student “presents, doctoral students an insight into the acquisition of a Ph.D. And Networking opportunities, but limits the authorization based on the racing of the participants. ”

On the website of the doctoral project, you will be said that “you use our expansive network of partners, specialists and universities so that you can continue to help people earn their doctoral thesis to inform and inspire the next generation of managing directors.”

In a January version of the PHD project website, the organization “contributed to changing the future workforce by historically underrepresented students to provide a power model and company to enrich the talent pipeline. We support the creation of company documents from historically underrepresented groups – Transforming Business Education and Business. “

Mounts of historically underrepresented groups and diversity have since been removed from the organization's homepage.

The January version of the PHD project website also contained a website with a dropdown list from university partners, which has been removed since then. In the previous version, a user was selected on the dropdown menu “University of Notre Dame”, but was triggered to the Mendoza College of Business “Graduate Programs”.

Notre Dame does not seem to offer any information about his partnership with the doctoral project on her website. However, the strategic framework of 2023 University lists a bulletin to “increase the diversity in our doctoral students and postdoctoral students” in order to deepen and enrich the follow -up experience at Notre Dame.

The Notre Dame website lists other graduation programs that are supposed to promote diversity.

The Notre-Dame program of the Notre Dame Graduate School after the Baccalaureate research education (ND-Prep) that offers a federal scholarship that offers research programs in biomedical science and related areas, requires applicants to come from a historically underrepresented group in health-related fields. “In particular, we encourage applications of people who belong to racist and/or ethnic groups, including blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinos, Indians or natives in Alaska, local Hawaiian and/or other Pacific islanders,” says the side.

You can also find a number of admission partnerships with the Mendoza -MBA program that aims at increasing diversity on its website.
