La Galaxy's worst start ever and Portland Timbers are ready to make it worse

La Galaxy is terrible. Three losses in a row, a zero record in points and an attack that has not even managed to score a goal in the MLS game. The masters of the MLS Cup of last season experience a nightmare and urgently need to correct things. The pressure is increasing and another loss could further deepen the crisis. The squad had a decisive victory in the Concacaf Champions Cup, but that reduces the fact that you do not have to offer a consistency in the league campaign.

Portland Timbers is not doing so well itself. With a win from three games and a 2-0 defeat against Nashville SC, the squad cannot even get your Mojo going. The attack still does not shoot all the cylinders and they let themselves go without Evander. Her only win came against Austin FC in a spectacular way, but questions still surround the actual potential of the squad this season. The game against Galaxy is a golden chance to leave an impression, and hosting should give you an additional boost to drive a fighting opponent.

La Galaxy in the crisis

Galaxy fans who are used to seeing their team on the track are not familiar with the team who took the field for the first three rounds of the MLS campaign. The crime is not achieved, the defense distributes the goals too easily, and the midfield does not seem to control.

Injuries to the most important players cannot be excluded from the equation. The team was decimated by important absences, and head coach Greg Vanney doesn't have many safe things that can be rely on. But do injuries explain so much complacency?

In her last game, Galaxy showed an insulting improvement with eight shots on Target and the SC goalkeeper of the St. Louis City, Roman Belki. However, they were unable to convert chances in targets, which finally turned out to be their demise. The team left the field with a ruthless 3-0 defeat and, to make things worse, without signs of an immediate answer.

Portland Timbers still has to prove a lot

Although Portland Timbers is not so desperate, they too have a lot to repair. With just one win this season, the consistency was the biggest problem. In their loss against Nashville SC, the team's inconsistency was emphasized in the attack volume. Without Evander, they still have difficulty finding the right balance in midfield.

David da Costa was a ray of hope and was already gaining a win for the team. There is optimism that it can play an even greater role when the team finds its find. The Timbers plays at home in the Providence Park and has to stamp their authority on a fully exposed galaxy side.

James Pantemis, the wall in green and gold

And when the attack by La Galaxy was lower, here is an even bigger task for this: the goalkeeper from Timbers, James Pantemis, the player of the time.

The Canadian wrote history last season when he saved two penalty, a novelty of the MLS story in a single game. Only Tony Meola did it in a single half in 2002 and had another goalkeeper. But the statistics are even more frightening for Galaxy: Pantemis has received three criminal kicks since his entry in Portland and saved them all.

For a Galaxy attack that is already confident, penetrating pantemis and Portland defense will be a steep ascent.

If La Galaxy loses again, it could be an even bigger crisis, with the team a further memory falling into the overall ranking and last year's championship. For Portland, a victory would be the thrust that you need to gain stability. At home, the Timbers have the perfect opportunity to take advantage of Galaxy's misfortune and overthrow three important points.
