Jack Draper faces referees in the video review -Chaos against Carlos Alcaraz | Tennis | sport

Jack Draper was forced to confront the referee against Carlos Alcaraz for a decisive reputation of his Indian well-being. British No. 1 successfully followed a ball and replied to him, but the chairman of Mohamed Lahyani initially believed that he crashed into twice. Draper marched to the chair to request a video check. When Lahyani recognized his mistake, he initially agreed to reproduce the point.

The Brit was still happy and asked to confirm again whether he deserved to win the point. After an interruption of three and a half minutes, he finally got the point and broke the same game. However, the commentators did not agree to the final decision. Draper won 6-1 0-6 6-4, booked his place in his first Masters 1000 final and cracked the top 10.

Draper and Alcaraz shared the first two sets of their semi -finals in Indian fountains. It was a roller coaster competition – the Brit took the first set 6-1 before the defending champion banned him. Since Alcaraz served in the decisive set at 1-1 15-15, a chaotic call seemed to change the game.

Draper chased a drop shop and brought the ball back into play, but the referee did not call. The 13th seed immediately called for a video reviews challenge to determine whether he had hit the ball in time or whether he jumped twice.

“He is not called up. I don't know if that's true. And that will go to the video check. What a shame that the referee takes on one of the rallies of the game,” said Jonathan Overend about Sky Sports comment.

Naomi Broady replied: “I think the chair of the chair knows that he made a mistake here.”

The review confirmed that Draper came to the ball in good time and the chairman initially decided to reproduce the point. “After the evaluation, Mr. Draper made it on the first jump. Repeat the point,” announced Lahyani.

However, Draper had another problem. The 23-year-old turned to the referee again and argued that Alcaraz 'return was not influenced by the call and that the point should be. “He's not nearby. Can I lead a video review to do this?” he asked.

His application was granted and Lahyani decided in his favor after the second assessment and told the players and the crowd: “The emergency call was too late, so the point goes to Mr. Draper.”

Alcaraz and Draper quickly arrived for a chat, but the Spaniard seemed to take the call. Overend and Broady, however, suggested that it was still the wrong decision and that Alcaraz could have urged to reproduce the point.

Both agreed that Lahyani's initial scream of “not up” was immediately heard, which Alcaraz gave basics.

Overend explained: “So it is an indication of Draper, but the first call of 'Not Up' from Lahyani, nobody heard it, but Alcaraz was right to argue that what was off and that they should play the point again. But it is point draper what Jack wanted.”

The game was resumed almost four minutes later, with Alcaraz now facing a 15-30 deficit in his own service game. And it was a turning point – Draper ensured the first break of the last sentence.

“This is a point -changed moment in the game that,” said Broady. Alcaraz continued to fight with his service games and was broken for the second time, while he remained 2: 4, which Draper gave the chance to reach his biggest final.

“How different it could have been if the drama hadn't spoken again and again in the third game,” said Overend, before Draper campaigned for the match.

Alcaraz kept alive and got one of the breaks. But it only delayed the inevitable, and Draper served it for the second time and gave Alcaraz his first loss in Indian fountain since 2022.

The world No. 3 was in a 16-game winning shop at the tournament after increasing the title 2023 and 2024. But Draper pulled out the surprise to end Alcaraz 'reign. He will now crack the top 10 in the world.
