St. Louis City Match MLS -Record in Shutout from SUNDERS

Eduard Lowen scored at the beginning of the game and St. Louis City SC to defeat the visiting Seattle Sunders 1-0 on Saturday evening and set up an MLS record with a fourth exhibition in order to open the season.

The backup goalkeeper Ben Lundt was forced to save just one for his first MLS Clean Sheet. Lundt was introduced to the line -up after the starter Roman Burki had suffered a hand injury in training before the game.

St. Louis connected the shutout strips opened by the New York Red Bulls in 2007 and fit from the Vancouver Whitecaps from 2012 in Vancouver.

St. Louis (2-0-2, 8 points) beat the injury-dressed sounds (1-2-1, 4 points) for the first time in five sessions.

Lowen scored a free kick in the 15th minute after a defensive in Seattle. Jackson stuck the ball in front of the top of the penalty area when he slipped on the damp lawn – storms hit the area on Friday evening and during the game a little rain fell – and fell on the ball, just as he freaked in his arms.

Referee Fotis Bazakos described a foul for a handball and gave out a yellow card.

Lowen increased the following free kick of 25 meters directly in front of the gate over the wall of the defenders of Seattle and directly in the left post, outside the reach of the diving goalkeeper Stefan Frei, who made four parades.

The SUNDER received a penalty kick in the second half when St. Louis' Henry Kessler stumbled into the 18-yard box OBED Vargas. The video assistant asked for a review and Bazakos found that the ball hit the left hand of Vargas shortly before its decline and contested the penalty kick.

The SUNDERS were without striker Jordan Morris (Hamstring), the leader of the franchise, Paul Arriola (Zorn ACL) and Pedro de la Vega (Quadriceps), who were injured last week, and defender Yeimar (personal reasons).

In addition, Sounders trainer Brian Schmetzer stayed at home as he fought against an illness. Assistant Freddy Juarez, formerly coach of Real Salt Lake, filled up for Schmetzer.
