Apple was able to start an iPhone 17 Ultra this year - but we have heard these rumors before

We expect Apple to reveal the iPhone 17 area in September, and a new rumor shows a name change for the most expensive model in the installation-a rumor that has actually been swirling for a few years.

According to the well -known tipper Yeux1122 (via Macrumors), the iPhone 17 Pro Max is actually called iPhone 17 Ultra. This is apparently based on information from investors and sources in the supply chain.

If the telephone, previously known as iPhone 17, actually gets a name change, it would be the first Ultra phone published by Apple -although the Ultra label already used it for some of its Apple Silicon Chips and of course the Apple Watch Ultra series.

However, we have heard this rumor for both the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 16 – and in these cases the names have not changed. Perhaps this is the year in which Apple finally decides to shake its approach to the iPhone name.

In theory, we could then look at a list that contains the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Ultra. After each of the three additional variants, there is a certain stept to have a single additional word.

However, the same tipper also suggests that the iPhone 17 air name has not yet been remedied. This Super Slim model, which replaces the iPhone 16 Plus, was presented in many leaks-but it sounds as if Apple hadn't yet decided as it should call it.

The iPhone 17 Ultra (if this is indeed his name) is also tilted with a smaller dynamic island, a steam chamber for additional cooling (and improved performance) and an increased battery capacity.

We have already heard that iOS 19 is also intended for a large revision. So it looks like Apple is a bit of a year for Apple and software a year. We should take our first look at iOS 19 at Apple WWDC 2025 at some point in June.
