Spectators share crabapple fire pictures, videos on KSAT Connect

Fredericksburg, Texas – A massive running fire north of Fredericksburg in Gillespie County continues to grow over thousands of tomorrow without containment.

The fire started on Saturday around 1:45 p.m. in the 8700 block of the Lower Crabapple Road.

The Texas A&M Forest Services said that the fire is now reported to be 8,640 ACRES from its original size of 400 acres.

Gillespie County's judge, Daniel Jones, made a disaster declaration that enabled the officials to evacuate, close and control the roads as needed, the city said.

The Sheriff office of the Gillespie County said that the smoke from the fire was in the area and possibly further visible.

A spokesman for the city of Fredericksburg asked everyone to avoid the area.
