NZ against Pak 2024/25, NZ against Pak 1st T20i Match Report, March 16, 2025

New Zealand 92 for 1 (Seifert 44, all 29*) Beat Pakistan 91 (Khushdil 32, Duffy 4-14, Jamieson 3-8) by nine gates

In the fifth T20i in Pakistan's tour of New Zealand last year, the hosts were released for 92 in Christchurch. In the first T20I of this five-game series, this was a total profitable for New Zealand after Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy had taken a new Pakistan team apart.

Losing weight from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan signaled that Pakistan tried to step out of their comfort zone in T20 Cricket, which is generally very good. But on Sunday they saw the risks that also came with them when they were exposed to 91, their lowest total in New Zealand and their fifth lowest in format.

The black caps followed the white ferns to bring comprehensive victories on a double header day in Christchurch when Jamieson and Duffy shared seven gates between them.

Jamieson gives New Zealand the perfect start

Jamieson, who has been set up in the T20I for the first time in almost two years, gave the tone for New Zealand with a Wicket Maiden, Mohammad Haris, only able to help a short ball behind the Wicketkeeper Mitch Hay.

Debütant Hasan Nawaz then received a front edge from Duffy to Jamieson at Deep third when Pakistan lost both openers without a run on the board. This was only the second time that both Pakistani openings were released for ducks.

Jamieson then had himself reinforced in Irfan Khan in the third time when Pakistan in the autumn of the third Wicket to 1 for 3 sags – the lowest score.

Tim Robinson then reminded rather fresh memories of Glenn Phillips from the Champions Trophy when he took a blind man when he was back to give Jamieson his third, whereby the scoreboard 11 for 4 read.

Agha, Khushdil drive your luck

Pakistan was limited to 14 for 4 in the power play, and it could have been worse immediately afterwards, but Tim Seifert dropped Khushdil Shah on point off the captain Michael Bracewell.

Agha then tried to drive a full ball from Zakary Foulkes just to get an edge, but Daryl Mitchell shot the chance in the slip cordon.

Agha and Khushdil used their second life to arrest Pakistan's free fall. They finally looked in the tenth time after the pace when Agha Ish Sothi for four behind Point and Khushdil struck him over Midwicket for Pakistan's first.

Next time, Khushdil BraceWell continued for successive Sixes to put the bowl back on pressure. But it was a very short -lived phase of the ascent for Pakistan.

Duffy, so things wrap things

Agha tried another reverse sweep from Sodhi's next ball, but he could only select deep backward tip. Duffy was brought back into the attack for an over, and the move paid dividends when Khushdil hit a short ball onto the backward point. Pakistan were 64 for 6 after 13.

Debutante Abdul Samad and Jahandad Khan then fell and then tried to play big shots before Duffy returned to the penultimate takeover to take the last two gates, and caught up in the T20I series against Sri Lanka, where he ended as the highest wind truck

Pakistans 91 is the quarter-festival T20I value of a team in New Zealand.

Seifert decreases in chase

After Seifert had played for the first time, New Zealand brought it through Midwicket before the debutant Mohammad Ali. Then he took three borders in front of Shageen Afridis, including another train before the square.

Seifert gave Ali the indictment of picking up another border before he received two from Jahandad's first and the fifth inning from Jahandad before the first time. Finn Allen, mostly a spectator until then, also joined the party when he hit the ground for the first six chase Jaandad.

Pakistan switched to spin and Seifert welcomed Abrar Ahmed with a massive hit over the long distance. Abrar ended him with a carrom ball that Haris held well to stay behind the stumps from the lower edge, but New Zealand had effectively won the game in the two power plays until then.

Everyone hit six and two fours, while Robinson also got a six to his name when New Zealand only completed the chase after halfway on the Innings.
