No. 4 Men's Lacrosse ends up the greatest victory against Williams in serious history and defeat the EPHS 22-11

Middletown, Conn. -The Lacrosse team of the Wesleyan men No. 4 shot all the cylinders on a cool Saturday afternoon and dominated Williams in a 22-11 victory by Citrin Field. The victory of 11 goals is the greatest victory for the Cardinals (3: 1, 2: 0 Nescac) in the history of all time against Ephs (2: 2, 0: 2 Nescac), while the 22 goals also represent the highest total wesleyan, which has ever been achieved against their small 3 rival.

In the rapid battle, 10 goals were scored in the first quarter, all of which were achieved in the first 10 minutes of the game. Williams jumped on a 3-2 lead before the cardinals scored four unanswered by four different players to achieve a 6: 3 lead.

The quick pace decreased when no team achieved more than 10 minutes before Williams ended a 3-1 goal run to take the lead and take 7-6 cardinals. Conor Selfridge '26 had worked into the game after he had approved one goal on four of the first five Williams attempts in the target, the junior goalkeeper achieved eight shots in a row for the Ephs between the first and second quarter.

The game of Selfidge in Net kept the score narrow and the cardinal offensive was brought to life again and in the last 7:18 a.m. in the second quarter, four unanswered goals scored to score 11: 6 Wesleyan at half time. James Bailey '26 hit twice to start the run, the second of a game in which he stopped at a cent, and shook his defender before containing a shot that defeated Matt Wetmore in the cage. Ck Giancola '24, G'25 followed with a few strikes to end the rating in the first half.

Wesleyan brought the game to hold early in the second half Ben Burns '26 scored two goals at the opening 1:21, then added another with a man-up strike. The 7-0 run of the cardinals ended with a Williams goal, but Wesleyan replied right back Gavin Lechner '27 and Jack Raba '23, G'25 gate to increase the edge to 16-7.

Giancola set the exclamation mark on victory with a Man-Down goal only 15 seconds in the fourth quarter, which Wesleyan gave a double-digit advantage. The cardinals scored three other unanswered goals within 3:05 and completed the rating with 22 goals with 8:06 to play.

The game of Selfidge was crucial for the result because the two sides were almost even in shots (Wesleyan led 55-50), but the junior goalkeeper ended the career height of 19 parades when the cardinal goalkeeper for 21 parades compared to nine for the three goalkeepers of the Ephs who saw the field.

Giancola had worked and ended with a career height of nine points for six goals and three templates. The nine-point effort exceeded its NescAC tournament record at the NescAC quarter-final victory against Trinity last season with eight goals.

Burns tied his career high with five goals while James Bailey did the same with his overall four -feasible. Will Miller '26 scored five points for two goals and a high season of three templates. Raba scored once and scored three templates for four points and Lechner had a three -point game (two goals, one assist).

Tyler Campbell '25 led the Facoff unit with five floor balls and an assist. Emmett Schillinger '25 led the cardinal defense with three floor balls and two sales caused.

Next for the cardinals there is a trip to Hoboken to Stevens on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The ducks dominated the meeting last year in Middletown with a 16:10 victory against the Cardinals.
