Tornado Watch for Augusta and Rockingham Counties issued until 7 p.m.

Charlottesville, VA (Cvillerightnow) – The National Weather Service has published Tornado Wache for Augusta County, Rockingham County and the surrounding areas in the west and northwest of Virginia. The clock applies on Sunday, March 16, from 12.53 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Cities in the watch area are staunted, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Winchester. In addition to Augusta and Rockingham, the watch includes Highland, Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah and Warren Counties.

Prognostics say that the conditions for the development of heavy thunderstorms are favorable that could produce tornadoes. The residents should carefully monitor the weather warnings and be ready to collect protection when a warning is issued.
