Deadly House Fire in Lawton, Iowa this weekend

Three adults died early Saturday morning in a house fire in the small town of Lawton, seven miles east of Sioux City.

The sheriff of Woodbury County, Chad Sheehan, said the victims called on Saturday around 1:15 a.m. 911 to say that they were caught upstairs of their burning house.

“When the MPs arrived at 1:22 a.m., they reported flames visible and heavy smoke. Lawton Fire arrived two minutes later and started fighting the fire, ”he said. “A call for mutual help was published and several community fire and EMS units were supported.”

Shehan said reporters that the victims are a man and his wife and adult grandchildren.

“I spoke to the family. The family certainly wants to express their appreciation for the support of the support of the community, “said the Sheriff,” but as they could imagine, they ask everyone to respect their privacy if they mourn this terrible loss. “

The state fire brigade marshall was called to examine the cause of the fire.
