Investigation of sexual assault leads to arrest

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has reported the arrest of a local man for sexually based criminal offenses.

According to a press release from the SBI of March 4, the agency was requested on February 27, 2025 by the Sheriff of the Currituck County's office to help during an examination of sexual attacks.

“After the interviews and the execution of search command certificates, evidence that led to the identification of a suspect in the case were collected. Paul Pellini identified the examination, a certified nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and nurse, as a suspect. As a result, it was charged with a second degree violation of violent rape, ”said the publication.

During his initial appearance in court, Pellini was recorded in the Currituck County prison for a bond of 2 million US dollars. A judge also ordered him to not enter his practice without a law enforcement officer.

This case is currently active and continuous, the publication noted. Anyone who may have additional information should contact the Sheriff office of the Currituck County under 252-453-3633.

The case was transferred to the public prosecutor's office of the New Hannover County to the public prosecutor, explained the release.
