Two people die in the house fire in Sweetwater, says Monroe County Sheriff

Sweetwater, Tenn. (Wvlt) – The sheriff Tommy Jones from Monroe County said two people died in a house fire late Saturday evening.

Jones said the MPs went to a house fire in the 700 block of the Hawkins Road in Sweetwater shortly before 11 p.m. while he was on the way to the scene, Jones told them that two people were caught inside.

Several fire brigades reacted to the scene and spent most of the night to fight the fire.

According to Jones, the MPs with family members confirmed that two people were not taken into account. Her remains were found after the fire was brought to the regional forensic center for identification.

“I appreciate all first aiders and fire brigades who reacted to the scene and tirelessly worked on extinguishing the fire and helped to restore the two people who have lost their lives in the residence,” said Jones.

Agents of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were asked to help with the investigation, said Jones.

The examination remains active and continuous.
