Cigarette ash that have suspected of having started the Layton Apartment Fire

Layton – firefighters believe that cigarette ash has lit a fire in Layton Apartment that broke out on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Layton Fire Department, the fire burned a two -story Fourplex near 1925 N. Hillfield Road. Firefighters were originally appointed to a report on a bedroom fire.

Layton's firefighters were supported by the Hill Air Force Base fire brigade.

When the battalion chief arrived at the scene, he said that the fire came from the southern and western lower windows of one of the residences of the Fourplex, however, did not seem to be extended to the other units. The crews deleted the fire within 10 minutes of arrival.

When surveying the inmates of the unit, she reported that, according to a position of Layton fire brigade, she had “put cigarette ash”.

Damage to the device is estimated at 150,000 US dollars. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire continues to be examined.
