Motorrad tribute killed Cal Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi

Friends and family organized a tribute motorcycling on Sunday to remember Cal Fire Captain, which was fatally stabbed in February.

San Diego – Friends and Family today held a tribute motorcycle ride to remember Rebecca Marodi, the Cal Fire Captain, which was stabbed in February.

“Becky was like a sunbeam, so I feel it today,” said Aisha Mahler Salina's Davis. “I feel the sun on my skin and I like 'okay, Becky is here with us.'”

The Rebecca motorcycle group, the Lita's, gathered on Sunday morning to honor their memory. Friends felt Becky's spirit when they met in the Hillcrest Pride Flag for the tribute trip.

“This is one of our usual Meetup spots and it felt like it was appropriate to pick up people here,” said Rebecca's friend and ride organizer Ami Mahler Salina's Davis. “And then of course we have to go through Ramona, her hometown. Your community will also give us out there to support us.”

The drivers made a pit stop in Ramona and shot their engines for Rebecca's mother who was waiting outside.

“We want you to feel the exhaust, you know, and we want you to feel like she is supported,” said Ami.

The group continued the rest of the trip to Josie's Hideout salon in Santa Ysabel, a classic meet-up spot for the club. There they continued Rebecca's life celebration with friends, family and their favorite bands.

Dozens of friends came to Josie's to share friendly words about the beloved Cal Fire Captain.

“Nice, nice, warm are not generous enough adjectives to describe Becky,” said Marodi's friend Andrea Winter.

Rebeccas cousin, Charity Andrade, shared memories.

“When I grew up with her, we have a million stories,” said Charity. “She was an amazing person.”

For their motorcycle community, a trip was the only way to say goodbye.

“It was emotional,” said driver Fran George. “People who appear and basically show for Becky was amazing.”

The relatives now wear Becky's spirit on their bicycles and in their hearts every time they ride on a sunny day.

“I think that's the perfect way to honor Becks, because that was, just pure joy,” said Ami. “I think it's the next thing we can achieve now.”
