Sherman's Irish Pub in Vernon was destroyed by fire in front of St. Patrick's Day | Local

The cause of the fire is still being examined.

Vernon, Michigan (WJRT) – A popular Irish pub in downtown Vernon with celebrations for St. Patrick's Day, which takes place this weekend, was destroyed by fire.

Several fire brigade agencies and first aiders triggered flames in Sherman's Irish Pub on Main Street in downtown Vernon on Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported on Sunday morning. Several fire brigades from Shiawassee and neighboring counties were on site to get the fire.

Vernon Township's fire brigade, Dan Bannister, said that the loss of Sherman was difficult for the small community, but the pub will recover with the support.

“It is a temporary loss,” he said. “Sherman's had many customers in the village. It was a flourishing business. I spoke to the owners who will rebuild them, and hopefully the community will stay behind them.”

Nobody was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is examined.
