Instead of the beach or Europe, the Penn Gymnastics traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia, during the spring holidays to take part in William and Mary – and won the last street seat of the season. Red and blue returned to the Palestra on Friday to meet a meeting against West Virginia before the end of the break, which led to a loss, but to a new program record by Senior Gymnast Skyelar Kerico.

“It's nice to see how our hard work pays off and I know that our season is coming to an end, but we can still see our efforts, even though it comes to an end,” said Freshman Gymnast Manama Fofana.

At home the crowd was a healthy mix of red, blue and yellow. Many mountaineering families demanded the chants of the home in “Upg! Go Penn Fight! “With their” Let's go mountaineers! ”

Vault

At William and Mary, the Quäker showed their reliability again by keeping the results closely. Junior Gymnast Marissa Lassiter acquired two 9,800s in a row, with Fofana scored a score of 9,850 at 9,825 and Jordan Barrow in the second year. The team was 48,950 in total.

In the Palestra against West Virginia, the undoubtedly highlight of the rotation was the return of Kericos Yurchenko 1.5. After falling down the past meetings only on a complete turn, she pulled off a beautiful vault and brought her a new career and program record for an individual safe evaluation with a 9,925.

Bars

Penn's Bars team had a stronger performance with William and Mary than at home. There, Impressive achievements by Barrow and Kerico, both of which earned a 9,800, contributed a total of 48,800.

In the Palestra, however, Kerico had an uncharacteristic fall. Barrow proved that eight is her lucky number with a 9,825 against West Virginia. Sophia Paris, who earned a 9,800, was also an outstanding number of points in the second year. The team received a 48,700, just behind its score from the previous meeting.

In William and Mary, Freshman Mimi Fletcher and Kerico gathered their high -quality dynamics to withdraw a 9.875 or 9,800. Fofana proves that her return to the line-up in Towson was not an arrived miracle and headed for an impressive team score of 48.950, the highest meeting.

Some athletes show their performance on their face, and Junior Alisha Werlen is one of them. When Werlen holds a flight series, the audience knows that it is good news from their expression. This turned out to be against West Virginia when she acquired a 9,800 and best connected her season and career. Fletcher also earned a 9,800, while Kerico redeemed himself with a solid routine of 9.825 after collapsing. Red and Blue managed to achieve the same score at home as in Virginia, a 48,950.

Floor

The bars team achieved the ground with William and Mary: 48,800. The nostalgic routines in the line-up were the top goal scorers: Fofana with a Michael Jackson Mashup received a 9,800, and Kerico with a mixture with “Dancing Queen” had the highest routine with a 9,825.

The personality shone on the floor at home. With her legendary Spunky routine, Lassiter started the rotation with a 9,800, followed by Fofana, who was swelling her way to a 9,850. The anchor of the event, Senior Zara Gazdak, also received a 9,800, whereby the all-round superstar Kerico received the highest score of the event, 9,875. With a team value of 49,050, this was the only event at home where Penn scored over 49 points as a team and led a total of 195.625. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to beat the climbers, but it was still a win for the Quäker because it was their second highest number of points.

In addition, both team results are counted for the national qualification of the team, which is used to determine the regional championship qualification. Penn is currently in 47th place and only the top 36 teams take part in the regional championships. However, it is important to note that the results of the past weekend have not been taken into account in these ranking lists and only 0.340 points separate the Quäker of No. 36.

If you go into the last meeting of the season, the emotions on all accounts are high.

“What is the most important thing for me is the team in general,” said Fofana. “I think that's the most valuable for me. … it was also difficult tonight. ”

But the job is not yet done.

“We only concentrate on the best details because we know whether we would only go out there and now take part in competitions. We could do it, but it will think about all the small details and corrections that we carry out in practice and only replicate our surroundings that we have when we compete in the gym,” said Fofana.

The Quäker will organize their fourth title in a row at the championships of the Gymnasics East Conference on Saturday at the championships of the Gymnasics East Conference.
