Video: Restrictions on the grid and their effects on the better development

Finding the right network connection option for a BESS project is therefore on the critical path of a BESS developer, usually an even greater priority than a suitable property property.

Since the inquiries of network connections multiply, the network operators tend to propose flexible network connection options in which the network operator has the right to temporarily restrict the cargo or discharge capacity of the BES. These flexible connection offers are a positive step towards BESS provision, since they largely increase the number and capacity of network connection points available to connect a BES.

However, these flexible options also create more complexity in terms of project development, as it is:

  • The information provided by the network operators is usually partially partially and only deliver a number of hours in which the network connection cannot be available for charging and discharge.
  • The scenarios taken into account by grid operators are often maximum and aim to determine the upper limit of the borders that the project can be exposed.
  • The grid restrictions are naturally stochastic, since they are caused either by demand variations, renewable intermittenz or the device's failure in the network infrastructure.
  • The development of these restrictions is uncertain and to a large extent depends on the future grid upgrades.

All of these factors make it much more difficult to analyze a certain project. The aim of this webinar is to provide possible solutions for these uncertainties. In particular, the webinar matters the following topics:

  • What are the causes of restrictions and how can these restrictions be expected through publicly available data?
  • How to create a realistic boundary scenario that is to be taken into account in a business model
  • How does a certain number of restrictions affect the profitability of a project?
  • How is the presence of restrictions in a certain project in the agreement with the way to the market provider?

The Clean Horizon team of experts shares its observations and best practices in the industry, which, despite this additional complexity, develop.
