And so the Chaturthi Tithi begins on the evening of March 17th and ends on March 18. And so some people will keep fast on Monday, others will be on Tuesday after they have consulted their priests or gurus.

Rituals of Sankashti Chaturthi

Sankashi Chaturthi is a day of fasting, prayer and devotion, and the rituals don't differ much from other fasting and days in the Hindu calendar.
If you start fasting on Monday or Tuesday, wake up early and take a shower to clean yourself. Then go to your homemade temple, clean it nicely and change the cloth by keeping Lord Ganesha's idol.
Then set up an altar or Puja room for Lord Ganesha and decorate it with flowers or rangoli or even with new clothes for Lord Ganesha.
And when fasting starts in the morning, it is important to just drink water or have a few fruits. Keep your nature calm and composed on the day of fasting and say it to say others.
Fasting is assumed that they clean the body and soul and bring the submissive closer to Lord Ganesha, they have to stay true to themselves and their dedication and ask for Lord Ganesha's blessings, to remove all obstacles and challenges from their lives and also have their strength to overcome the obstacles if and if any other.

The Puja

On the day of Sankashti Chaturthi, the Puja is ready after the moon and after offering water for the moon and Lord Ganesha.
People start the evening Puja by saying the Vrat Katha, the story of King Mayurdhwaj, his minister Dharampal and Dharampal's daughter -in -law to Lord Ganesha.
People then sing Mantras for Lord Ganesha, especially the 'Om Gan Ganpataye Namah' and ask Lord Ganesha to go to their homes and to live with a problem -free life and to bless the obstacles.
People offer Lord Ganesha 'Modaks', Motichoor Laddoo or everything sweet together with fruits and open their fasting with the prasad.

Meaning of Sankashi Chaturthi

Sankashti Chaturthi is generally understood as a “Sankat problem of cutting or removing Ashti”, and so people pray to Lord Ganesha to cut off problems and hurdles from their lives.
It is said that people who are quick and devoted to Lord Ganesha on this day are blessed with prosperity, good health and success.
