Police looking for missing cardiff Woman Start Murder Investigation | UK News

Detective looking for a Cardiff woman who has been missing since last summer have initiated a murder examination.

Previously, three arrests were made in connection with Charlene Hobbs's disappearance.

Crimestoppers now offers a reward of up to 20,000 GBP for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The last confirmed viewing of the 36-year-old from Riverside was a photo that was taken on a house on Broadway in the Adamsdown region on July 24th last year.

Ms. Hobbs, who has an unmistakable dragon tattoo on her back, had her hair in a bun and wore a dark, mandatory top when the photo was taken.

The day before she was seen, she was captured on CCTV in a Morrison's Local in Adamsdown.

In a statement published by the South Wales police, Ms. Hobbs' family said: “We still hope that Charlene can be found safely and well.

“We are grateful for the support of crimestopper and the reward that helps us find it and hope that this will help people get information about what happened to Charlene.”

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Powell said: “We were always determined to find Charlene alive and to return them to her family, but despite a large number of inquiries, we have no evidence that Charlene is alive.

“While I was always open, the lack of proof that Charlene lives, that we now treat her disappearance as a murder examination.

“We spoke to more than 250 people, either Charlene or from areas in which she is often known, and nobody can tell us where Charlene is or that she lives what we, her family and friends naturally want to hear.

“Some of those we spoke to believe that she died, but nobody could give certain details.”

Detective and special search teams continue with comprehensive efforts to find Ms. Hobbs and to determine the circumstances in their disappearance.

DCI Powell added: “I am still firmly convinced that answers are in the community and that someone out there contains important information that helps us find Charlene.”

A 45-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the investigation remains in the police deposit.

A 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were released without charges.
