The parents of Long Island want the competing school district from the schedule due to racing problems

Parents from a long Island, New York, the high school, are committed to ensuring that games against a competing school district are never planned again due to suspected race problems.

The parents of the Elmont High School of the parents of the Elmont High School (PTSA) and the father's father organized a town hall with the officials of the sports department of Nassau County to discuss what parents, according to the New York Post, describe a “long history of racist behavior” from the Bellmore merrick school district.

Representatives of the Sewanhaka School District were also present in the town hall, under which the Elmont High School is located, and in the Bellmore merrick district.

Lynette Battle, who works on the Sewanhaka board of trustees, also called the former President of the PTSA the situation as a “definition of madness” and claims that it was a recurring situation.

“Something else has to be done,” added Battle. “And someone has to be brave enough to be in the shop.”

The racial incidents were allegedly exceeded for years, especially a great excitement that led before the meeting. It was a basketball game for girls on February 7 between Elmont and the Kennedy High School, which is located in the Bellmore merrick school district, was the turning point.

During the game there was an argument between a player on each side, in which only the player from Elmont reported the post was black after he was curved by Kennedy, who was white.

After the video came out how the Kennedy player first scored the Elmont player, the latter placed against the suspension. Although section VIII initially confirmed her decision to suspend the player, she was stopped again and was allowed to take part in a playoff game after a second appeal procedure.

Although Bellmore-Merrick made the decision to voluntarily suspend the Kennedy player who is involved in the dispute, parents from Elmont clearly saw parents from Elmont to never ask schools from their competing district, including middle schools.

During the meeting, the battle listed alleged racial incidents between the school districts for years, including one from 2023 during a junior volleyball game between Elmont and Kennedy High School, when the fans, who were supposedly mocking Elmont players, told them “monkey” and have called Bananen in his possession.

With this last incident, the fans were both disciplined when the Bellmore merrick superintendent and sports director personally apologized to Elmont in their high school, said section VIII director Patrick Pizzarelli the Post.

In Battle, an incident was also detailed in February 2019 when Elmont Cheerleaders supposedly hurled racist deteriorations to the audience who supported Bellmore-Merrick. She also claims that one of the cheerleaders has an “Afro Person to mock the black players”.

Battle added further incidents in 2022 and 2023, which were allegedly racially charged. However, they were never reported to the necessary sports powers in the districts.

In response to this, Section VIII and the districts of workshops for students held in the teams involved and at the same time “started reading a polite declaration before the games,” reports the post office.

“Our children will become the victims,” ​​replies the battle. “Why do you have to be in the room for a Kumbaya moment?”

Post also interviewed Jon Johnson from the Dad's Club, and while his three children may no longer be in the Sewanhaka school system, they all completed the Elmont High School and allegedly dealt with similar breed incidents.

Johnson detailed one in which his “Middle son” was involved, who played against the Wellington C. Mepham High School-another in the Bellmore merrick distribution.

“He played Lacrosse, and in the middle of the game the opposing player called the opposing player the flat-out of the n-word and told him that he should rise from the field,” said Johnson, who is black.

Pizzarelli has defended the way section VIII, and the respective districts reacted to these incidents, and added that, like this, like this progress in solving these problems.

Parents ask themselves to differ.

“We have trusted that our district helps to look at our children, but I don't think they have it because they keep doing things to bring a band-aid of a gunshot wound,” said Johnson to the post office.
