“Train to the new thriller date of the new Busan thriller”

In a recent interview, Yeon Sang-Ho said that revelations would deviate from the fantastic elements of his previous works. “Many of the live action films I made explored surreal topics in fantasy people,” he noted. “But this time I minimized the fantasy elements. I wanted to concentrate on psychological topics that are rooted in reality – things like illusions, delusions and trauma.”

Revolts are based on the comic of the same name of the 2022 duo, which follows a preacher on a twisted, morally ambiguous journey. The film is also produced with the participation of the Oscar winner Alfonso Cuarón (Roma, Children of Men), which acts as a producer.

The trailer presents the central secret: a young girl is missing, and a detective has to reveal the truth behind her disappearance. In the meantime, a pastor believes that God has revealed the fate of the lost girl in a divine vision.

The film revolves around two protagonist and detectives Lee Yeon-Hui and Pastor Sung Min-Chan-, whose contrasting motivations drive the story. Lee Yeon-Hui, who is still haunted by her sister's death, is deeply affected by the case. Pastor Sung Min-Chan, on the other hand, is convinced that it is his spiritual duty to convey the punishment for the person who is responsible for the girl's disappearance.

The story examines the psychological struggles of these two characters, both of whom are shaped by their personal trauma. Yeon Sang-Ho wanted to write a character that, like the protagonist of Revelation, only perceives reality as he wants to see it. Sung Min-Chan, a pastor of a new church, is a unique character that offers a powerful basis for the story.

Revelations stars:

Pastor sung min-chan: Ryu jun-yeol (a taxi driver who 8 show)

Detective Lee Yeon-Hui: Shin Hyun-Been (Hospital Playlist, Born Reich)

Kwon Yang-Rae: Shin Min-Jae (Jung_E, Parasyte: The Gray)

In order to bring these characters to life, the filmmakers gathered a talented ensemble. Ryu Jun-Yeol, known for his powerful performance, is particularly attracted to roles that challenge both themselves and the creators. As Pastor Sung Min-Chan, he provides a performance that is both haunting and thinking about.

Shin Hyun-Been's representation of Lee Yeon-Hui presents a character full of grief and vulnerability, far from the stoic, Sardonian figure of the comic. In the meantime, Kwon Yang-Rae from Shin Min-Jae is a man who is drawn by his dark past and has hardly escaped a figurative hell.
