Extreme fire risk, harmful wind, potential winter weather

Saline County's emergency management asks everyone to pay attention to potential dangerous weather conditions this week, including extreme fire risk, very strong wind and potential winter weather effects.

Fire weather concerns on Monday and Tuesday

The National Weather Service has published a red flag warning for South Central and Southeast Kansas today, although on Tuesday it is probably an extreme risk of fire. Strong winds and low humidity create conditions in which fires can easily begin and spread quickly.

Monday: Very high risk of fire, with wind gusts reaching 35-40 miles per hour.

Tuesday: Extreme fire risk, with gusts of wind between 40 and 45 miles per hour.

All fires that develop will be difficult to control.

Strong winds and winter storm clock on Tuesday evening to Wednesday

A strong wind clock applies to all central and south central kansa until after Wednesday to Wednesday. Winds were able to build 60-65 miles per hour, which leads to dangerous travel conditions.

Dangers: dust bubbles, downed current lines and difficult driving conditions.

Timing: top wind gusts that are expected from midnight Tuesday to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

In addition, there is a winter storm clock for late Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning. While the amounts of snow are uncertain, the snow in combination with strong wind and dangerous trips in combination with strong winds can create.
