It was the weekend of Jane Hedengren.
On Thursday, the Timpview (UT) Senior smashed the record of 5,000 m in Indoor National. Three days later, she returned to the arms chamber of the Nike Indoor Nationals and provided the fastest mile in high school history.
Hedengren scored an astonishing 4: 26.14 to break the 4: 27.97 record that Sadie Engelhardt set up at the beginning of this season.
Engelhardt had run on the same route at the 2025 millrose games. She was in an area of professional runners and etched her name in front of Mary Cain, which is now in third place on the high school list.
Hedengren's time is not only the fastest time in indoor history, but also in the history of the high school. In 2022, Addy Wiley ran 4: 26.16 to operate the fastest 1,600 m of HS history, which was then converted into a 4: 27.73 mile. However, this brand was not a national high school record.
How did she do that?
Hedengren wasted no time to jump to the top. She separated 1: 06.11 over the opening 409 m.
Her pace did not fluctuate and she continued to cling 33-second rounds during the rest of the race. All fell incredible up to two rounds outside of this 33-second edge. These two rounds were 32.15 and 32.63.
She was almost perfect throughout her race and commanded control over the field and the crowd when they roared them forward.
Hedengren divided 4: 07.68 to 1,500 m on the way to their mileage.
What's next for Jane?
Nike announced this morning that the company had signed Jane Hedengren for a zero agreement. THe is the latest step in her career because it quickly becomes a known name in the American distance -running community.
Hedengren is currently committed to Brigham Young University. The Byu Cougars won the NCAA Cross Country Team title in autumn and have done well with the performance 2025 NCAA indoor athletics championship.
