Other remarkable gaming gains were the defeat of Alcaraz at Queen's and Alex de Minaur at the US Open, while he also scored two victories against another pair of top 10 players in Hubert Hurkacz (in Japan) and Taylor Fritz (in Paris).

He fought game against the world No. 1 Jannik Sünd before he went down in three sets in the US Open semi-final. This run up to the last four gave him the chance to reach the ATP TOURFINALE at the end of the season before these hopes in the last 16 in Paris were deleted by defeat against de Minaur.

Draper will also be disappointed in the second round in Wimbledon – beaten by compatriot Cameron Norrie – and maybe he could not support his victory against Alcaraz at Queen's and fell in the next round Tommy Paul.

Draper ready to “shake” top player in 2025

Draper said: “I have this inner belief now. Next year I will go with an even greater motivation to really shake these boys at the top of the game – like sinners and Alcaraz.

“My first title, then the US Open, believed that I belonged. Since then it has been a snowball effect.

“If I can continue to improve physically and gain more experience at this higher level against top players, I will give myself an attempt to compete with these boys. But there is a lot to do.

Draper sat down with Gigi -Lachs to discuss his previous career, to do the ATP tour requirements and to exploit his potential in 2025

“As a young player, I still learn to play on the tour with the requirements, week after week, against many of these boys.

“I only played 120 games on the tour. Many of them played 400, 500. How much do I have improved in the last 40 games from a mental, physical and emotional point of view – it is a big difference.

“So to think that I am so far behind, I can still achieve what I did. I think I only need more time.”
