Telegram's CEO temporarily leaves France while the criminal investigation continues

The French authorities made Pavel Durov, the CEO and founder of Telegram, to temporarily leave the country, while criminal activities are still being examined on the messaging platform.

Today Durov announced in a telegram post that he had returned to Dubai after leaving France from Le Bourget Airport outside of Paris.

A official from the public prosecutor in Paris announced that Bloomberg was exposed to the judicial order that Durov examined from the trip outside of France during telegram crime between March 15 and April 7.

“As you may have heard, I returned to Dubai after several months in France because she examined the activity of criminals in the telegram. The process takes a great time, but it feels great to be at home,” he said.

“I would like to thank the investigators for making this happen, as well as my lawyers and my teams for their relentless efforts to demonstrate that it has not only fulfilled their legal obligations in terms of moderation, cooperation and combating crime for years.”

Durov was arrested in France at Le Bourget Airport near Paris in France, in connection with an examination of the use of telegram for fraud, drug trafficking and illegal distribution of content.

Days later he was released with 5 million euros (around 5.6 million US dollars), but he was instructed not to leave the country because the French authorities were still investigating it.

A month after the arrest of Durov, Telegram announced that it began to share the telephone numbers and IP addresses of the users with the law enforcement authorities if they violated the rules of the platform according to applicable legal inquiries, and only after receiving a valid court hearing, in which the user was a suspect in a criminal proceeding that violates the use conditions of the platform.

Before the announcement in September, Telegram's guideline, which restricted sensitive user information in cases with terrorist suspects. Telegram's CEO also said that the platform (known for widespread abuse to sell and promote illegal goods) to remove problematic content.

“These measures should discourage criminals. Finding telegram is intended for the search for friends and the discovery of messages and not to promote illegal goods,” said Durov. “We do not become that bad actors endanger the integrity of our platform for almost a billion users.”

In January, Telegram also announced that it shared the telephone number or IP address information from 2,253 users with law enforcement authorities according to 900 US government inquiries.

As Durov announced last year, Telegram 950 reached Mood -active users and 10 million subscribers paid two months later in July and 10 million subscribers.
