Badenoch left angry when her speech penetrated the big conference

On Monday, March 17th, activists from the climate reise disturbed a keynote keynote from Kemi Badenoch at Margaret Thatcher Conference 2025: Remaking Conservatm, which was organized by the Center for Policy Studies at Guildhall:

As Badenoch spoke, two demonstrators rose from the audience and developed banners with the inscription “Abolish Millionaires” and “Wealth tax now”:

“It's a shame that you celebrated Margaret Thatcher!” One of the demonstrators called out. “Would you like to talk about the future of conservatism? There will be no future! “Another screamed:

“It is exactly like my electoral maker,” complained in Badenoch, not noticing how close it was to the truth. Her coughs in July 2024 were also disturbed by climate resistance.

Security then pulled the demonstrators out of the hall:

Bathing hole will not abolish billionaires – but it should

The disorder was part of the new Abolish Millionaires campaign and called for a 100% wealth tax for assets over £ 10 million to finance climate measures. Activists highlighted the devastating influence of neoliberal guidelines – deregulation, privatization and austerity measures – by Thatcher and the current Tory party. Safety pulled the activists out of the hall.

The richest 1% are responsible for more emissions than two thirds of the world's population. According to YouGov surveys, more than half of the British believe that billionaires should not exist and three quarters support a wealth tax.

This year, Margaret Thatcher's birth and 50 years since her first meeting with Ronald Reagan – a symbolic moment for the rise of neoliberalism. The conservative party was described as billionaires due to its cozy relationship with super -rich donors. Among other things, Tories received 250,000 pounds from Lord Spencer and £ 50,000 from a company that was together with the convicted billionaire Practice Hinduja before the last parliamentary elections.

After the attempts by Elon Musk, all over the world, including the British government, and the rise of the “billionaire broligarchy” in the USA, the influence of the super -rich on politics is increasingly on an object of investigation.

Sam Simons, spokesman for climate resistance, said

The future of conservatism is the same as in the past: exploitation and climate abort for the many, obscene wealth for the few. For 50 years, neoliberalism has robbed workers, deepened inequality and accelerated the climate crisis. Thatcher's heir is nothing to celebrate. Today's conservatives cling to an ideology that the bags of the Super-Rich stuck while the planet and people have difficulty paying their bills. It is time to control billionaires out of existence and use the resources to finance social services and climate protection systems.
