Charles Leclerc outlines “two things that should be examined” after the poor Ferrari start started

Charles Leclerc thought about a difficult start in the Formula -1 season 2025 after exceeding the line in the eighth position and unveiling the “two things” in which the team had to check.

At the Wet -Weather race, McLaren dominated with a strong victory by Lando Norris. The woking outfit seemed on the track to secure a 1-2 finish until Oscar Piatri temporarily stuck in the rained grass. Red Bulls Max Verstappen and Mercedes' George Russell were on Norris on the podium.

Unfortunately, the Maranello outfit for Ferrari had to achieve the performance of its rivals. In conversation with the media after the race, the Monegasque driver explained:

“We thought for a large part of the race that P5 was secured and then the rain came and everything changed.

“It was a hard race and there are things that we have to check and work. We weren't the fastest out there, but in such weather conditions there was a chance to score some big points that we did not benefit today.

“I lost a few positions after the spin 11. In the end it was not so bad, with the security car that came out later, but then we held a round too late to switch to Inters and lost positions again.

“There are two things we have to see. The first is simple, it was my mistake. The second is something that we as a team sort, examine our decisions and make sure that we will make the right call when the situation reappears.”

Leclerc was not the only one who was disappointed after the Australian Grand Prix because his Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton claimed that the SF25 was “really, very difficult to drive”. He explained Sky Sports F1:

“It was very difficult and ran much worse than I thought it would really be difficult to drive today.

“For me, I am only grateful that I kept it out of the wall because it wanted to go there most of the time.

“There is a lot to be lifted off and can be acclimatized under the wet conditions with the new electricity unit.

“The settings it needs are different and a different trip and another facility on the steering wheel.”

The seven -time champion added:

“I hung around as long as possible and at some point I took the lead,” said Hamilton.

“Only the instructions on how much more rain came was missing there, so I think we missed it.

“We tried it, but the information I received was that it would be a short shower very quickly. At that time it was only in the last corner. For me, I thought 'the rest of the route was dry, I can keep it on the right track, then it came more.”
