St. Patrick's Day 2025 Caps A weekend when the Irish heritage is celebrated in the Philadelphia region

Philadelphia (WPVI) – St. Patrick's Day falls on a Monday this year, which means that the day with most of the weekend held a cap.

Action News took place on Saturday and Sunday at St. Patrick's Day parades in Philadelphia, Springfield and Conshohocken.

On Monday, the Ashburner Inn saw a lot of people in Torresdale, including Caroline Ross and her friends from childhood, who grew up in the block.

The trio celebrated traditions.

“We were in the Cyo church yesterday and we are here again. We have been friends since the age of five,” said Ross.

When McGillins celebrates her 165th St. Patrick's Day, one of her employees also hits a milestone.

Fergies pub was pints & Irish favorites in their location on Sansom Street. The Irish Irish and owner Fergus Carey loves to share his legacy.

“I am very happy to be celebrated. Let people celebrate Irish culture, discover Irish culture,” said Carey.

A service on Monday morning in the Irish Memorial recalled the potato hunger and the fights that the Irish endured.

Spokesman shared the contributions that the Irish immigrants did to the city and the public service when they arrived to America. The city councilor Mike Driscoll, who is active in the Irish community in Philadelphia, described what the monument means for him.

“Every time I look at the faces of these people, I think of the victims who gave our ancestors for us to live a better life in America,” he said.

Jerry Connor is President of the Irish Society of Philadelphia. He said, while you like to celebrate that day, it ends a month in which you celebrate and are suitable for the community. Connor said that the service extends all year round.

“There are also many meetings in the churches and communities and the Aohs (old medals of the Hibernians), in which we gather and celebrate what we have done all year round,” he said.
