Hasting's fire and rescue react to accidental house fire

Hastings, Neb. (KSNB) – Hastings Fire and Rescue reacted to a house fire at 11:40 a.m. in the Boston Avenue.

According to the city, the fire was classified as random. Hastings Fire said the residents who were moving in the left cardboard boxes on the stove that caught fire in the kitchen. Nobody was at home when the fire started. When one of the residents returned, he tried to lay out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but the fire brigade had to set up a waterline instead to get it out.

The fire brigade said that no injuries were reported, but the resident who found the fire was evaluated by the medical staff on site.

The city said that the structure was savable, but was not habitable in its current state.

Hastings Fire and Rescue reminds the community of keeping all fuels away from herds.
