Lt. Joe Milos and a team of eight officers from the Bellevue Police Department watched the streets at St. Patrick's Day to ensure that the neighbors who celebrate their vacation are responsible or find a journey home.

“We send a message to the public that we are out here and that we do not want people to come into contact with impaired drivers, injured people and people who die due to accidents. There is no tolerance for this, ”said Milos.

The holiday is one of the busiest days of the year for drunken driving arrests, and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there is a significant increase in the subject -related accidents and deaths.

The reaction to drunk driving accidents is difficult for every officer and the families involved, said Milos.

“It is a terrible event for everyone involved,” he said. “It affects our civil servants to deal with this investigation to notify a family that a beloved person has been injured or died.”

The police authority has been promoting the traffic grant for weeks to prevent neighbors from drinking and driving.

The scholarship also helps the department to find areas in which Bellevue quarters take place more dangerous.
