Alex Ovechkin continues the record climbing, while Capitals Red Wings moderator

The captain of Washington Capitals, Alex Ovechkin, appears on Tuesday evening against the Detroit Red Wings eight goals that do not become the most productive goal scorer in the history of the NHL.

Ovechkin has 887 career goals after a balance in the 5-1 win on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks. He chases Wayne Gretzky, who scored in 894.

“It's great. A lot of people are now watching and a lot of attention. It is a great feeling,” said Ovechkin, who also had an assist and has 34 goals and 21 templates in 51 games this season.

The capitals that have the best record in Eastern Conference have won six of their last seven games.

Dylan Strome, Aliaksei Protas, Taylor Raddysh and defender Trevor van Riemsdyk also scored for Washington on Saturday when it rose to a 3-0 lead of the first period. Tom Wilson, Lars Eller and Pierre-Luc Dubois each had two templates and Logan Thompson achieved 19 parades.

“I think we had a pretty good start, all four lines rolled. Keep the puck and make smart decisions,” said Ovechkin.

Added Capital's coach Spencer Carbery: “In the second period I thought we were pressed a little. In the second time it became a little careless. In this building we had to start a quick start, and that is exactly what we did.”

It was the last game of a three-game trip in California for Washington, which went 2-0 on the hike.

The leading goal scorer Dylan Strome (65 points in 67 games) and Ethen Frank missed training on Monday due to illness.

The 3-0 home win of the Red Wings against the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday was only the second victory in their last nine games when the team fights for a place for wild card playoffs.

Petr Mrazek, who achieved 18 parades when the shut -out was recorded, was at the finish line for these two victories. The experienced goalkeeper, who started his career at Detroit, was acquired on March 7 by the Chicago Blackhawks near the NHL trade period. He was traded by the Red Wings to the Philadelphia Flyers at the end of 2017-18. The elimination was Mrazek's 14th for Detroit and the first for the Red Wings since January 22, 2018.

Its span of 2,611 Games between the Detroit's shut-outs is the fifth longest range between a goalkeeper's shut-out for a team in NHL history.

“Three in a row definitely helped,” said Mrazek. “I hadn't played for a while, and as soon as you played, you will get your confidence and boasting back.”

Defender Albert Johansson, Lucas Raymond and Marco Kasper scored for the Red Wings. It was Raymond's first goal in 11 games (February 22). He is a leading goal scorer with 69 points in 67 games (23 goals, 46 templates).

“At the end of the night, the scoreboard was a really good thing for our team,” said Red Wings coach Todd McLelland. “It was a good night for many of our players, which should give us some trust.”

Patrick Kane von Detroit, who had a template, played in his 1,287. Game. That moves him past Phil Kessel and in the 10th place of all time among the players born in the USA.

This is the third game between the Red Wings and Capitals this season. Detroit won 4-2 at home on December 29th and Washington was 5-2 at home on March 7th.
