Theater group among those who benefit from confiscated criminal cash

A Bradford Theater Company will work with young people who may be at risk thanks to cash that have been confiscated by criminals.

The mayor of West Yorkshie, Tracey Brabin, today distributes 1 million GBP money that have been confiscated by criminals to community organizations.

Common/WEALTH Theater Company in Bradford receives 19,536 GBP from the fund.

It will work with young people who have the risk and experience of insult to carry out a drama program with a performance result as part of Bradford 2025.

Evie Manning, Co-Artistic Director, Common/WEATTH, said: “At Common/WEATTH we believe that we can change life in the power of theater.

“The financing we have received from the mayor will enable us to work with young people who have the risk of insulting Bradford, and helping them build up trust and resilience and to develop skills for future successful life and to tell their stories in their own votes.”

A total of 58 joint projects were awarded an event on Monday evening at an event at the Bradford Academy.

Another project is carried out by R-Youth CIC, an organization based in Wakefield that works with children and young people from areas with high crime, which may be the risk of gang participation or criminal activities.

The director of the organization, Mohammed Amran Nazir, said: “Too many young people are drawn in crime, exploitation and violence just because they cannot turn anywhere else. At R-Youth Cic we refuse that this is your only way.

“This financing of the Mayor's Safer Communities will help us to disturb this cycle by providing a lifelong -structured sports, mentoring and positive support network.

“Through multi -athletes and ways to education, we will include young people from areas with high crime and give them the trust, the discipline and the possibilities they deserve. It's not just about sport. It's about saving futures. “

Since its foundation in 2021, the Mayor's Safer Communities has distributed a total of 4,042,628 GBP up to 415 local projects.

Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said: “I am very pleased that we were able to invest in these local group groups and have been able to ensure that their crucial work will continue.

“Projects like this that tackle problems at the basic level are decisive for delivering our new police and crime plan and making West Yorkshire a safer, fairer place for everyone.

“I can't thank these organizations enough for the big difference that they make here in West Yorkshire – they have the power to really change life.”

The financing comes from cash and assets that were confiscated by the police and the public prosecutor's office after the proceeds of the crime law of criminals.
