Companies celebrate St. Patrick's Day and more in Marquette

Marquette, me. (WLUC) – With beverage and menu specials, live music and much more, companies such as Flanigan and Digs in the city center of Marquette are preparing for large crowds for St. Patrick's Day on Monday evening.

Flanigan's was even visited by the hairdresser choir of the upper Yooper, who stopped in nine different bars on Monday evening. The group sang three Irish songs, including a traditional Irish blessing.

Janice Simpson came to Flanigan every year to celebrate her birthday, and this year the choir helped her by sang “happy birthday” with her.

“Many of my friends are here and then I meet a lot of new friends and they usually have music and they sing me a happy birthday. We meet here and the people just come in I know and we all celebrate my birthday, I get hugs from everyone,” said Simpson.

Flannigans was not the only bar in the city center that celebrated. Digs have two reasons to celebrate, St. Patrick's Day and an anniversary.

“We opened at St. Patrick's Day nine years ago, it was a long journey, here we are again, we go through Covid and everything and we are back and are ready to celebrate at St. Patty's Day,” said Chris Jones, Digs Sous boss. “We have an entire Irish menu, fish and fries, Corned Beef and Kohl, we have a fried German Shepherd, we go Boston cooler and then we have a live entertainment at 8 a.m. We have a few bagpipes and then we have a DJ double -trouble entertainment from 9 a.m., ”added Jones.

The Marquette City police have also published a public announcement that they should not rely on happiness this year. Determine a sober driver and do not drive drunk. Receiving a DUI could cost it more than 10,000 US dollars in legal costs, court costs and higher insurance companies.

Of all of us on TV6 you have a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day.
