Trail security tips

Many people use our park landscapes and paths every day. Make your trip safer by following each of these tips:

  1. Have the way. Project growth, trust and determination. Your shoulders are back, you are aware of your surroundings and you have somewhere.
  2. Go with a buddy. Enjoy your paths and park landscapes with a friend. Two or more trail users can support each other in the event of an accident or injuries, and you can always seek help.
  3. The day is your friend. It is better to avoid twilight and darkness.
  4. Use all of your senses. Pay attention to your surroundings. Avoid wearing headphones so that you can remain aware of the hiker, runner, biker, dogs, horses and district vehicles. If you have the feeling that an area may be unsafe for you, leave it out immediately.
  5. Take what you need. Carry personal identification. If you often use a medication, e.g. B. for diabetes or angina, bring it with you both for you and for use.
  6. Leave all valuables at home. Car breaks are all too common.
  7. Call help. If you need help or support someone else in the district, call 911 or 510-881-1121. District employees and volunteers in the park can also request support for you.
  8. Let someone wait. Always let someone else know where to go and when you return and indicate to call 911 if you don't return as planned.
  9. Be easy to find. Use only marked, authorized hiking trails. To determine where you are in the park, bring a printed map of the park with you or use a hiking app like Aveza or all trails.
