The US trade department prohibits China's Deepseek via government units: 'Do not download, display, access'

Washington: The United States trade department has banned the use of the Chinese model for artificial intelligence Deepseek. The US Kommernce department informed its employees that the Chinese AI tool was prohibited on government devices, according to a report by Reuters.

“In order to keep the information systems of the Ministry of Commerce secure, access to the new Ai Deepseek based in China is largely prohibited for all GFE,” said a mass email to the employees about their equipment recorded by the government, as cited by Reuters.

“Do not download, look at all applications, desktop apps or websites that refer to Deepseek,” added.

Previously, US officials and congress members have expressed concerns about the risk of Deepseek for data protection and sensitive government information.

It could not be determined immediately to what extent the AI ​​tool was banned by the US government, the report added.
