Prince Harry's Visa records will be published when claims about the past drug use are displaced. Here is what we know

A US court has decided that files with regard to Prince Harry's US visual application must be published this week.

Sussex's reference to drug use in his memoirs prompted a conservative think tank to ask in the United States why he was approved in the United States, questions about his approvals of past drug use in relation to his visa.

We know the following.

Why were questions about Harry's US visa?

Harry moved to the United States five years ago with his wife Meghan and her two children.

In 2023 he released his memoirs, in which he admitted to take drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms as a teenager and adult.

“It wasn't a lot of fun and it didn't make me particularly happy,” he wrote about his cocaing brauch.

“But it felt different, and that was the main goal.”

The royal commentator Juliet Rieder said Harry's admission to his younger years had backfired.

“While this honest revelation may have sold books, she also brought a goal in the USA on her back where he now lives and works,” Rieder told the ABC.

If foreigners receive US visa, they are asked about the immigration form according to the history of drug use or drug-related crimes.

Drug consumption in the past can be seen as an application for US visa managers.

This led to questions about what Harry answered on the form.

Why are the documents published?

The lawsuit was Filed by the US conservative thought factory Heritage Foundation According to the law on freedom of information.

The foundation argued that reporting on the media was questioned on Harry's admitted drug use whether the royal lied to his immigration documentsOr whether he had receive a special treatment to enter the USA.

They said there were “intensive public interest” to know whether the Duke was honest.

In September 2024, the district judge Carl Nichols rejected the application.

“He said it wasn't enough public interest in such an introduction to privacy, and that seemed to be the end,” said Rieden.

“But the Heritage Foundation has appealed and the same judge recently changed his decision. Hence the short -published edited documents that could be very difficult for Prince Harry.”

The Heritage Foundation led the project in 2025 and criticized other stories.

Most recently, the foundation claimed that bidges had used a car to sign pardon during its presidency that claiming it to invalidate his actions.

US President Donald Trump has now also claimed that the pardoning has no strength.

What are the rules for USVISA and drug use?

Application forms for USVISA Questions about the current and earlier drug use.

The specific questions listed in the form are:

Are you or have you ever been drug calculation or more addicted?

Have you ever violated a conspiracy or violated controlled substances regarding controlled substances?

The US State Department says:

“The current and/or past actions by an applicant, such as drugs or criminal activities, cannot authorize the applicant for a visa.”

While drug use does not automatically lead to a rejection of a US visa, this is a factor that immigration officers take into account when evaluating the authorization of an applicant.

It is also unclear what kind of visa Harry is in the USA.

“There is an A1 special visa in the United States, which is sometimes used for heads of state and royals with which some media can be processed Harry,” said Rieden.

“If so, maybe he was never asked about drug use in the past.”

When will the documents be published?

The Department of Homeland Security has Until the end of Tuesday (local time) Consider the order of the federal judge to publish Harry's immigration documents.

“These editorial offices, which appear appropriate, is convicted to the government to take the edited versions of these documents on the campaign at the latest on March 18, 2025,” said Richter Nichols.

What did Harry say?

Nothing.

In an interview with the New York Times in December, the prince said that “he likes to live here and address his children here”.

Could Harry really lose his visa?

We don't know.

It will probably depend on whether the unveiled documents show whether he lied to the application or not.

Mr. Trump's comments on this topic were vague.

“Before he was elected President in March last year, Trump said in an interview with the British politician Nigel Farage that Harry should not receive a special treatment and that” appropriate measures “would be taken if he were actually put in official documents,” said Rieder.

But in February, as President of the New York Post, he said he I will not try to remove Harry from the country.

“I don't want that,” he said.

“I will leave him alone. He has enough problems with his wife. She is terrible.”

Rieder believes that if he is thrown out of the states, it would be “bad news for the Sussex family who has done their home in Montecito, especially in view of the start of Meghan's new business”.
