Remains identified as a missing fireman from 2020

The remains, which were found in the San Bernardino Mountains in California at the end of last year, were positively identified as Carlos Baltazar, a firefighter of the US forest service, which was missing during the El Dorado fire in 2020, confirmed district officers.

An investigation began in October last year when a hunter discovered a human remains in a remote part of the mountains near Highway 18.

The Saniff Coroner Department of San Bernardino County confirmed that the identification of Baltazar, a 39-year-old from La Puente, was produced with DNA. The cause of death remained indefinite.

As reported by Waldfire today at that time, Baltazar was a member of the Big Bear Interagency Hotshot Crew in September 2020, who fought El Dorado fire and triggered after a gender -specific unveiling party went wrong. Charles Morton, who served as the crew leader, died in the fire, and Baltazar's family told the local media that Baltazar was depressed in the days after Morton's death and missed the week later.

The fatal fire of El Dorado sank almost 23,000 acres after the outbreak in September 2020.
