Grandfather who was grazed by a ball while the balls are lunming up in Florida City – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sport

Southwest Miami-Dade, Fla. (WSVN) – An older man recovers in a hospital after a ball hit him when he was in his house in Florida City.

The shots sound in the neighborhood in front of Southwest 10th Street and in the sixth place shortly after midnight on Monday morning.

One of these balls went through a wall through a door, through a door and hit the 90-year-old Rafael Cotto.

The victim's grandson, Anthony de la Rosa, said the shots surprised him.

“I didn't know that it was shots for my grandfather to scream,” he said.

De la Rosa was in the family house when balls flew outside in the neighborhood.

“Shots hit this house over there, this house and this house, and I think this corner over there,” he said.

He said his grandfather played a crossword puzzle in his bedroom on the ground floor when one of the balls bounced off in the room and hit him.

“It put him in his arms and there was an influence here on the shoulder,” said de la Rosa.

The whole excitement was terrible for the whole family.

“Everyone comes in, they moved us. It was a scary moment you know? You don't see so many police officers in your house, so it was scary for everyone, ”said de la Rosa.

First aiders hurried to Jackson South Medical Center when his family prayed.

“It was scary, do you know? He is 90 years old, he is fragile, ”said de la Rosa.

When the victim was taken to the hospital, the Florida City police set the area and determined dozens of evidence markers.

With a ball in the shoulder, Cotto's family hopes that doctors can save his arm.

“He loses the feeling in his right arm, it hit a nerve.”

His grandson hopes that Cotto, as soon as he recovers, can continue to do the things he loves.

“He loves to cook, loves his crossword puzzles, all these coloring books and all of that. He loves them. “

The family said Cotto was conscious and vigilant. He will be in the hospital for a few more days.

The police did not identify any suspects at this point.
