All-Region player, Linemen meet college decisions scranton Times-Tribune

Two all-region soccer players have recently made their college decisions.

Sean Owens, a four-year-old starter with Western Wayne and Pennsylvania Football Writers Class 3a All-State athlete, committed to Springfield College. The Abington Heights Wide Receiver Shawn Theodore, which carried out the transition from the quarterback to the recipient, will visit the Lackawanna College.

In four years, Owens, Western Wayne helped to success, which included two appearances in the District 2 Class 3A championship game and a 10-weight season in 2024.

A two-time all-region selection as Sophomore and Senior, the 6-foot, 185 pound receiver and the defender had 71 solo two-struggles and 32 templates for a total of seven tackles for losses, nine interceptions for 156 yards with two returned touchdowns, seven passes, one fumble recovery, one fored fumble Fumble and One Blocked Field Goal Last Season.

Owens ended his career with a total of 222 tackles, with 12 for losses, 19 interceptions for 289 yards and 15 defense.

The Springfield College ended the 12: 1 in total and won the New England Women- und Herren-Athletic Conference Championship. The pride lost to the North Central Cardinals in the NCAA Division III National Playoffs.

Theodore, a 6-2, 185 pound senior, had a breakout season with receiver and caught 39 passes for 710 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also completed 19 out of 30 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown after taking over for the quarterback Nick Bradley, who had suffered an injury in the off -season.

He ended his career with 60 receptions for 944 yards and 12 touchdowns after converting from the quarterback into wide receiver.

The Lackawanna College had a 7-3 record last season.

Linemen make decisions

Asiel Richards, Senior of Abington Heights, will continue his academic and football career at the University of Rochester and plans to get a main subject in aerospace technology.

Richards helped to protect Bradley and paved the way for a running game with 1,565 yards. The 6-3, 215 pound senior also contributed 36 tackles with five for the loss.

In his career, Richards had a total of 69 duels with 10 for losses and three sacks.

Rochester finished 6-5 last season and in the NCAA Division III Liberty League 2-4.

Lackawanna Trail two-way-lineman Brian Gow committed to the Misericordia University.

Gow was one of the most physical players of the Lackawanna Football Conference Division III and the District 2 Class 1a Champion. He helped the Lions a 13: 1 record as a junior and a 12-2 mark as a senior and was part of an offensive line that paved the way for 3,764 yards rushing and an average of 337.5 yards to lead the LFC in both categories.

Misericordia ended last season as a member of the Middle Athletic Conference 3-7.
