Laguna Niguel couple without criminal history – NBC Los Angeles

The family of a couple Laguna Niguel, who has been in the United States for 35 years, say they are broken with broken heart about their upcoming deportation.

Relatives of Gladys and Nelson Gonzalez say that the couple, who had recently become grandparents, was brought to a detention center in Louisiana, where they face the deportation. No individual has a criminal history, but they are expected to return to their home colombia.

The US immigration and customs authority admitted that neither Nelson nor Gladys have a criminal history, but the couple had violated the immigration laws and had a final moving regulations.

“It breaks my heart because my parents are good people and they don't earn it,” said Stephanie Gonzalez, the couple's daughter.

According to Stephanie, her parents were arrested on February 21 during a routine check. It is expected to be deported by the end of the month.

An online donation campaign began to help the couple return to Colombia.

As part of President Donald Trump's commitment, the step comes against immigration. Although his government promised to deport people with criminal convictions or pending charges, new ice data showed that half of the custody has no criminal history.
