Despite another outstanding performance in Mexico and Central America, US pork was slightly below the large total total in the last January. This emerges from the data published by USDA, which was compiled by the US meat export fuel (USMEF).

In January, pork exports amounted to 243,965 million meters, which decreased by 3% in the previous year, while the value was 2% to $ 668 million. The programs rose to Central America and continued to trend more about the leading market in Mexico. Exports also rose to China/Hong Kong, the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand, but these results were compensated for by much lower programs to Japan, Korea and Colombia.

“The American pork has had a record year in 2024 and we see opportunities for further growth this year,” said Dan Halenstrom, President and CEO of USMEF. “Our markets of the western hemisphere are obviously important for this success, so the White House, which is paused by some of some from Mexico and Canada, are pausing the news.”

“The duty-free access to Mexico, Canada and other free trade agreements has definitely underpinned the global demand for red meat and achieved essential returns with every step of the supply chain,” he continued. “The majority of US exports for red meat refers to countries with which we have trade agreements. The maintenance of trust and access to these markets is of crucial importance for the continuing success of the US industry.”
