Do you have 10 minutes? Fix a water leak and save a lot of money

Fortunately, most leaks are easy to determine whether you know where you have to look for and many frequent budget losses are easy to repair, so that only a few tools and hardware are required that can pay yourself in water savings.

Finding leaks and fixing is important because the households can lose more than 10,000 gallons of water every year. That is about 270 charges of laundry! Some water leaks are slow and difficult to recognize, but even the smallest leaks can add up quickly.

Fix a Leak Week is a national campaign created by the EPA and supported by Watersense partners in the USA and Canada and aims to clarify the residents about the importance of the search and determination of leakage for saving money for water and energy bills.

The Clean Water Public Advocate office from Egle encourages Michiganders to find Lecks in their house in their house during the leak week and to exchange information about leaks with others. In michigan.gov/fixaleakweek you will find some practical tips for finding and removing household leaks, materials that you can share on social media, and educational resources to hire children. If you decide to get involved, share a photo and mark your contribution with #Fixaleakweek.

Finding and removing leaks can save money and energy and reduce potential risks to public health for you and your community. It takes a lot of energy to deliver and treat the water that you use every day. By repairing leaks, you reduce energy and water waste that can reduce your bills.

Water is part of what we love about Michigan (the large lakes are the largest fresh surface water system on earth and do not forget what is below us – groundwater!). It is important to be good administrators for this amazing resource that surrounds us.

Further information, including video tutorials to remedy common household leaks, visit the page of the EPA leaks. If you have already noticed that you have leaks and that these resources are not enough to stop them, it may be time to contact a sanitary professional. When exchanging devices, consider those with a water sail label that could increase the water efficiency of your house and reduce your calculation.
