Katy, TX: Teenager who is charged in Jaquai Thompson's death

According to the sheriff Harris County, a 15-year-old was charged with the death of a 14-year-old in the Katy region.

The 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday, said Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The authorities of the Sheriff's Office and the Cypress Fairbank ISD Police Department helped the teenager arrest.

The suspect was reportedly charged with murder for the death of 14-year-old Jaquai Thompson.

What we don't know:

The suspect was not identified at that time. It is not clear whether other suspects are sought in connection with this case.

The background story:

The shootout occurred on March 7 in the Katy area. The MPs were called in the 6600 block of the High Stone Lane at 9 p.m.

When they arrived, the MP Thompson found their died with gunshot wounds near a retention pond.

Thompson was supposedly with a group of friends when another group of young people turned to them. A discussion between the groups and a person from the second group shot a weapon and met Thompson.

Both groups left the scene before the MPs arrived.

It is not clear what the alleged argument was about.

Family members said Fox 26 said that Jaquai, who went nicknamed “Quay”, was an 8th grade on the Rowe Middle School in Cy-Fair ISD.

“He is not a bad child. He is not robbed, he doesn't kill, he doesn't do anything. He is just a child who runs around as a child,” said his cousin Kelvin Sarver. “They say that some boys rolled up and shot in the face.”

Sarver continued: “This is my little cousin, who every day over here, every day with my children in my house. I have children of the same age. It is difficult. I collapsed immediately.”
