EPA -Fix A leak week focuses on the search and fixing of leaks


Tennessee American Water underlines the fix of a leak week 2025 of the EPA by providing tips to help customers find and repair leaks in their houses.

“While we celebrate a week with leak, it is crucial to recognize the essential advantages of combating leaks in your house or in your business. Fixing leaks not only get water, a valuable resource, but also reduces your supply calculations and prevents potential damage to your property,” said Grant Evitt's, President of Tennessee American Water.

“By proactive steps to repair LECKS, we contribute to a sustainable future and strengthen the reliability of our water systems.

Toilets

  • A faulty piston ball or a folding valve can weaken water by continuously draining and adding the tank. To test, drop a tablet with dye tracking or a small amount of food coloring in the tank and wait 5 minutes. If the coloring water seeped into the bowl, you may have a leak and have to replace the defective part.

Tap

  • A leaky tap can waste more than 3,000 gallons water per year. If you notice a drop, try to close it. If it drips further, the washing machine may have to be replaced.

  • If you see water on the floor under your washing machine, this can indicate a leak. You may want to call a repair service.

Bathtubs and showering

  • Check the spout and shower head to drip water. New washers can be required for the tap handles.

Tennessee American Water is investing over 35 million US dollars in its service providers a year to replace the water networks that have reached the end of their useful life, the upgrading of water treatment plants for the provision of high -quality water efficient and other improvements in the sales system such as replacing measuring devices and hydrants.
