The crews worked on Monday afternoon to extinguish a fire in a house in Annapolis.

Officials say that firefighters reacted to the 600 block of the Americana Drive at around 3:40 p.m. in order to record a structural tax in the elevator room of a six -story residential building.

Firefighters saw smoke from the elevator room came on the roof when they arrived at the scene.

Firefighters quickly got access to the roof and made an aggressive attack.

They were able to control the fire within 20 minutes.

The Annapolis Fire and Explosive Services unit carried out an investigation and found that the fire was caused by a faulty HLK window unit in the elevator room.

Precautionary measures were eliminated to prevent use.

At this point it is unclear whether the fire has added to damage the elevator components, the officials say.

The fire did not spread to apartments and civil servants said that no residents had been driven out.
