Alea starts “Think Smart before starting the Spring Break campaign

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) – Spring holidays are just around the corner and state troops want to make sure they remain safe. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency started its “Think Smart Before You Start Spring Break” campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote security and clever decision -making for all citizens during the popular spring holiday season.

“Spring vacation is a time for fun and relaxation, but it is crucial that we remember that security is always a top priority,” said Alea Secretary Hal Taylor. “We remind the drivers, especially young drivers, to think intelligently in front of the street.

As part of the campaign, Alea will increase the patrols in the streets of Alabama to ensure a safe journey. In view of many about Alabama's beaches and holiday destinations, Alea soldiers will concentrate on the enforcement of traffic laws, the use of the seat belt and the deterrent of dangerous driving behavior such as speed, distracted driving and driving while they are impaired.

Safety rules for the spring break 2025:

  • Connected to safety: Don't forget to click on it before going on the road on the way to the beach! General belts save life, no matter how short the trip.
  • Speed ​​crossing is not worth the risk: Keep the pedal up to the speed limit – Faster does not mean better.

  • Know your borders on the beach: stay hydrated, swim with a buddy and always follow the instructions for lifeguards. Check the surfing and swimming conditions and know the various flag warnings while visiting the beach.

For the fourth year, Alea helps with the security of beach. Alea's aviation unit will again carry out the “Rescue Swimmer Detail”, whereby the helicopter of the agency rescue swimmers from the cities of orange beach and golf coasts quickly starts to swim in the golf in need. Thanks to the additional financing that Senator Chris Elliott secured in 2024, the detail is not only forecast during the times of top fruits in the spring and summer months, but also when strong RIP flows are predicted.
