Pole Vault Star Armand “Mondo” Duplantis shows the fairy tale world record of 6.40 m in sight

The Pole Vault World Record holder Armand “Mondo” Duplantis believes that in the next few years he can increase the world record to 6.40 meters to 6.40 meters, the athlete said in a conversation with Puma CEO Arne Freiundt, which was published as part of the annual report of the sports company.

“6.40 meters can be reached in the next few years”

Herzogenaurach, Germany, March 18, 2025.

When it comes to pole rifle experiences, Mondo is in his own league, after winning two Olympic gold medals, two world championships, the world record broke eleven times and was crowned twice to the world athlete of the year. Although he set the world record at 6.27 meters at the beginning of this year, the Swedish athlete will have its sights on the bar for 6.40 meters in the future.

“I think that 6.30 meters is probably the goal in the near future and 6.40 meters can be reached in the next few years,” said Mondo.

He said improvements in the technology of his spikes were an important part to jump it higher and higher, and with the help of the innovation team at Puma, he inspires sprint spikes to create the ultimate shoe.

“We know that there is a direct correlation of the energy and speed that you have on the runway and how high you can jump,” said Mondo. “It was a perfect agreement with Puma right from the start because we knew how well from a concept and grabbed it at the speed. We wanted to make a kind of mix between a sprint spike and a rod farm. Like a world record.”

The introduction of innovations in the performance product range is an important part of the Puma brand increase strategy in order to create the basis for long -term sustainable growth.

“As a sports brand, it is very important that we appear with the best athletes and prove that our products cut off at the highest level and enable better performance,” said Puma CEO Arne Freiundt. “I think this is certainly an important marketing piece, but the knowledge that we take from an angle of innovation are even more important. We really understand what makes it faster before jumping, what makes them jump higher and that we transform these findings into a product innovation.”
